Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous lyrics that tackled issues of sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. She was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came through the trumpet. Classical, jazz and hip-hop lessons began when she was in her teens. In her studies, she majored in journalism and women's studies at college, even studying Mandarin in Beijing for a time. After graduating, it wasn't until that she turned her attention towards music. After gaining viral fame through the Internet and her own My Vag song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually was included on her first album Yellow Ranger. Other hits on the internet that were viral include queef track and the equally winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The latter track connected directly with another Awkwafina project NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. In addition to being a writer and musician among her accomplishments, she began looking for an actor for a third venture. Alongside early series such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors as well as Storks. In 2018, she scored breakthrough roles in a handful of notable films, including Dude Ocean's 8.8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released the EP In Fina We Trust.
