Carey is a former high fashion model, who measures at almost 5'10", was popular with American designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 in 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected her dad Scientist of The Year. The father of Carey was a geologist who traveled around the world as part of his professional career. As she attended in the University of Colorado at part-time when she was discovered to be the target of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. In 1980, she moved to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris and Bordeaux but returned back to New York in order to continue an acting career. Her work was showcased on Vogue and Glamour covers. In between modeling assignments she was enrolled in the study of literature in New York University.
